What is Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS)?
Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) is a type of polymer that is made from monomers called phenylenes and sulfides. It is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic that has excellent mechanical and thermal properties, making it suitable for use in a wide range of applications.

PPS is known for its high strength, high modulus of elasticity, and good fatigue resistance, making it a popular choice for use in structural applications where high strength and stiffness are required. It has a tensile strength that is like that of polycarbonate, and a modulus of elasticity that is similar to that of polyphenylene oxide (PPO).
In addition to its excellent mechanical properties, PPS has excellent thermal stability and high temperature resistance. It can withstand temperatures up to 240°C (464°F) continuously and up to 260°C (500°F) for short periods of time, making it suitable for use in high temperature applications. It also has good chemical resistance and is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, including fuels, oils, and acids.
PPS is also known for its good electrical insulation properties and is often used in electrical and electronic applications where high temperature resistance and good electrical insulation are required. It has a high dielectric strength and a low dielectric constant, making it a good choice for use in high voltage applications.
